CRCC Release Paths

Crossroads Correctional Center is a Missouri Department of Corrections prison in Cameron. It is not the DeKalb County jail. People sentenced to MODOC custody may leave CRCC through parole, conditional release, sentence discharge, or a transfer within the state prison system. Those terms describe different legal events.

Parole is discretionary release from prison under a Missouri Parole Board decision, followed by community supervision. Conditional release is the supervised portion of many Missouri prison sentences under section 558.011. Final discharge ends the sentence or supervision obligation when no other sentence or hold applies. A transfer merely changes the institution that holds the person.

County records cannot settle a CRCC release. Daviess/DeKalb Regional Jail can confirm its own custody, but MODOC owns the prison movement, release, supervision, and discharge records. The court docket can explain the sentence, yet it may not contain the actual prison movement date.

Release authority and physical movement should be paired. A board decision can authorize a future parole date, while the movement entry records what MODOC did. Conditional-release information can show supervised status without proving that supervision has ended. Final discharge requires its own confirmation, especially when another sentence, detainer, or revocation may affect the person’s status.

Confirm a CRCC Release

The immediate route is the MODOC Offender Search. MODOC describes that tool as covering people who are currently incarcerated or under supervision. A person released from CRCC to parole or conditional release may still appear because the state sentence remains active. A fully discharged person may not.

1. Search by DOC number when known. It is more reliable than a name and reduces the risk of combining different people.
2. If no DOC number is available, use the name fields and compare the county, sentence, offense, and other lawfully public matching details.
3. Open the record and read the current status and assignment. A correctional-center assignment indicates prison custody. A field-office assignment indicates community supervision.
4. Review any public parole, conditional-release, supervision, sentence, or board-decision information. Preserve the exact field label and access date.
5. If the active search returns no match, use MODOC’s nightly Sunshine offender file, which covers people who are or have been under department supervision.
6. Request a definitive movement or release history from MODOC when a date, facility, release type, or final discharge needs confirmation.

CRCC Active and Past Records

MODOC’s two public data routes serve different time periods. The active name search is best while incarceration or community supervision continues. The Sunshine offender database is updated nightly and expressly includes people who are or have been under MODOC supervision. Its compressed data must be read with the current layout and code tables.

The Sunshine dictionary documents DOC number, identity data, assignment and status codes, county and court case, offense, sentence start and length, parole or conditional-release concepts, and supervision district codes. It also defines `$PC` as “Sentence-I Minimum Release Date.” That is a calculated active-sentence field, not a guaranteed or historical release day.

CRCC Records and Contact

The official Crossroads facility page identifies the current prison and its contact details. It is the right source for facility identity and current institutional routing. State release records, however, belong to MODOC rather than a DeKalb County office.

For an offender-specific inquiry, MODOC instructs users to provide the correctly spelled name and available identifying information with a clear request. The institutional caseworker or field officer is the correct contact for a specific active status question. Do not send duplicate inquiries, and do not place sensitive identifiers in a public message.

Request CRCC Release Records

A formal request should identify the DOC number, name, relevant sentence or court case, and the event sought. Ask for a releasable movement history, the date CRCC custody ended, the next assignment or destination, the release category, supervision dates, and final discharge date when applicable. A narrow request is easier to route than a demand for an entire offender file.

MODOC publishes its Sunshine custodians on the official records page. The Office of Director contact listed in the research is `OD.SunshineRequest@doc.mo.gov`; Parole Board records use `ParoleBoard.SunshineRequest@doc.mo.gov`. Choose the custodian tied to the record rather than sending every request to both.

MODOC identifies many status facts as public, including present offense, sentence and judgment, county, supervision term, confirmation of supervision, supervising officer and office, custody or bond status, parole or conditional-release date, board release decision, and prior convictions. Not every field appears on the automated screen. Confidential treatment, medical, victim, security, and case-management details can remain closed.

Ask for electronic copies and an estimate before fees exceed a chosen cap. If part is withheld, request the legal basis and all reasonably separable open portions. Keep the response date and source label with any release fact.

CRCC Transfer Versus Release

A movement from CRCC to another MODOC prison is not release. The current assignment should change to the receiving institution, and the movement record can supply the effective date. Likewise, transport to court or another lawful setting does not end the state sentence by itself.

Parole

Board-authorized release from prison with community supervision before sentence expiration.

Conditional release

A statutory supervised portion of a qualifying Missouri prison sentence.

Discharge

The end of the MODOC sentence or supervision obligation.

Transfer

A change of custodian or institution without community release.

A field-office assignment is especially important. It signals that a person is supervised in the community, not confined at the office. The Cameron Probation and Parole office is also in the area, so a generic “Cameron” result can describe supervision rather than prison custody.

Why CRCC and WMCC Differ

DeKalb County’s state-prison history creates a common release-record error. MODOC’s official account of the Cameron transition says CRCC operations were consolidated into Western Missouri Correctional Center in 2019. In 2022, the prison population and staff moved back into the smaller Crossroads facility.

The former WMCC campus then became the Academy for Excellence in Corrections. It is a staff-training campus, not a second current prison. Older news, court, or corrections material may still name WMCC because that was the institution at the time. The historical name should be preserved in a dated record, while present custody must be checked through CRCC and MODOC.

This history matters to release searches. A person associated with WMCC years ago should not be reported as currently held at the Academy. Use the DOC number, movement history, and record date to connect the former name to the correct modern source.

Separate Cameron Corrections Records

Cameron contains three corrections references that can look alike in a broad search. CRCC is the current prison. The Academy is the former WMCC campus and now trains staff. The District 2 Probation and Parole office handles community supervision. A Cameron address alone cannot show incarceration, release, or supervision.
